WHAT WE DO
Northwest Florida’s Ronald McDonald House is located near the local children’s hospital so that families referred to Pensacola for life saving care can be comforted by this Home-Away-From-Home.
In-hospital treatment may last one day, one year, or even longer. The House provides a comfortable, supportive alternative to costly hotels or unforgiving hospital chairs. It serves as a temporary residence near the four local hospitals and rehab centers that treat children with life-threatening or rare illnesses. In our home, family members can sleep, eat, relax and find support with other families in similar situations.
This House is very much a Home and volunteers donate almost 8,000 hours each year to make sure families are comfortable in the common areas of the House that include a shared living area with television and DVDs, a computer area with access to email and the internet, a kitchen with all the comforts of Home and then some…
Every two years RMHC conducts an in-depth review of our policies, procedures and plan for how we will meet our mission. At this year’s strategic planning, board members staff and volunteers provided input on how we could best fulfill our mission to see our desired impact upon families, children healthcare providers and our chapter. Families: It is our privilege to serve families whose children must receive medical care in Pensacola to have the best possible outcome. We are honored to meet and share the lives of families who demonstrate grace and compassion on a daily basis as they comfort each other at our Home. In 2007, our families came from across the county.
