The Children's Medical Services (CMS) program provides children with special health care needs with a family centered, managed system of care. Children with special health care needs are those children under age 21 whose serious or chronic physical, developmental, behavioral or emotional conditions require extensive preventive and maintenance care beyond that required by typically healthy children.

Florida Healthy Start

Healthy Start Coalitions are non-profit organizations dedicated to improving the health of pregnant women and babies in a community

The cornerstone of all Coalition programs is Healthy Start, which is a comprehensive program promoting optimal prenatal health and developmental outcomes for all pregnant women and babies in Florida.

The fundamental goals of the Healthy Start Program are to reduce infant mortality, reduce the number of low birth weight babies and improve health and developmental outcomes.

 

Florida Kid Care

Florida KidCare is our state’s children’s health insurance program for uninsured children under age 19.  Eligibility for Florida KidCare is based on your child’s age and family income.

 

Child Care Food Program

The Child Care Food Program and two related programs, the Afterschool Snack Program and the Homeless Children Nutrition Program, are administered by the Bureau of Child Nutrition Programs. These programs provide nutritious meals and snacks to children through public-private partnerships with organizations committed to caring for children. All three programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service.

 

Family Resources Coalition

F amily Resource Coalition Inc. is a non-profit 501c3 organization. We are dedicated professionals working with families of children and youth ages birth to twenty-one years with special health care needs. Our primary corporate goal is educating and supporting families in the areas of advocacy skills, resources and information. In addition, families will be empowered and able to navigate the system of care in order to receive the services that their child needs to reach their fullest possible potential.

 

Healthy Families Florida

Healthy Families Florida provides free home visiting services to parents expecting a baby and parents of newborns. Healthy Families Florida is nationally accredited by Prevent Child Abuse America/Healthy Families America. This accreditation is only awarded to programs that are following best practice standards in home visitation.

 

Florida WIC (Women, Infant and Children)

WIC is a federally funded nutrition program for Women, Infants, and Children. WIC provides the following at no cost: healthy foods, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding support, and referrals for health care.

 

Florida Developmental Disabilities Council

Because their disabilities restrict their communication, mobility, and ability to take care of themselves, people with developmental disabilities may rely on assistance from others. To help meet these needs, federal, state, and local agencies provide health care, vocational training, and service coordination to people with developmental disabilities and their families. The Developmental Disabilities Council helps coordinate this effort in Florida
